carQuite obviously, your braking system is of parmount importance when it comes to road safety. Not only it is it desirable for complete peace of mind, it is also a legal requirement.

Brake systems consist of a group of parts: shoes and pads, drums and discs; and all these parts wear out over time and depending upon vehicle usage. How often and where you drive your car will have a dramatic effect on how often your brakes need attention. Obviously a car that is driven mostly on the motorway, where there is less braking, is likely to have longer lasting brake pads than if it is driven in heavy rush hour traffic.

You may already be experiencing problems with your brakes. You may hear a grinding noise when you apply the brakes, a pulsating or spongy feeling from the brake pedal or you may have a sense that the car is pulling over to one side. A brake warning light might have illuminated on your dashboard. If any of these symptoms are familiar to you then you should seek out a full brake assessment as soon as possible.

A braking system is made up of different parts which, when in good working order, enable you to slow down and stop efficiently and safely. The components of a braking system are connected by a series of brake pipes and hoses which are filled with brake fluid. As the brake is deployed, the brake fluid, through hydraulic action, applies pressure to the tyres and slows down the car. Over time brake fluid will lose it’s effeiciency and we recommend that it should be completely replaced every two years to ensure optimum performance.

Our thorough brake checks are performed by qualified technicians and we will test wear on brake pads, discs, shoes and drums. An assessment will be taken on what work needs to be done and your options will be discussed with you in full before any work is carried out.

We stock a wide range of brake system parts so that depending upon what vehicle you drive, be it car or light vehicle, we will have you back on the road as soon as possible.

Book an appointment online at one of our local hubs for a brake check with a qualified technician. Alternatively, call your nearest KAP hub:
